We held our first ever " "Scholar Artist Initiative Kick-Off" Event" at Jordan HS (LAUSD) It was a day filled with students enveloping themselves in artistic joy! Thank you to Jordan HS administration/staff for hosting us at your beautiful campus! A Big thank you to our participating schools, honor societies, The Lennon Bus Team, Superintendent Carvahlo and our AEB Team for making it a successful day!

This event will share with your students and you the benefits, opportunities, and national/international connections our learners can make with peers at home and abroad. LAUSD also gives you a special opportunity to connect with scholar artists across our District in a way that other communities do not have in their "home" District.

The deadline to apply is September 6 (now extended) for Jordan HS and September 13 for Van Nuys.

August 7 & 8 2025

Congratulations to 7th grader Naomi Talens and her art teacher, Mr. Sonderling, of Hale Charter Academy! Naomi’s powerful and vibrant artwork earned First Place in the 2025 Magnet Schools of America National Student Poster Contest for the middle school division. Her winning design was celebrated at the MSA National Conference in Nashville, where it was proudly displayed before an audience of educators and school leaders from across the country. This achievement highlights the incredible talent within LAUSD and the dedication of our arts educators in fostering student voice through visual expression.
